1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?

--- We've done research on labyrinths, ancient city-states of Mesopotamia
--- Research means to find and study information on a certain subject.
--- The research I did on the ancient city-state of Mesopotamia went pretty well, even though it took a while. I found that staying calm and focused helped me stay on track, and got things done much faster.

1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:

--- Well, I suppose that the webbing stuff wasn't absolutely necessary in order for me to find a topic. I could have just as easily found a topic on my own.
The postive: seeing all the information listed in order like that really helped me stay organized in what I was planning to write about. (But um... I can't really say much more, because my computers weren't working in class, and I didn't have the chance to get a good start.) :(

1. Topic:

--- China During Medieval Times (Imperial China)

2. Why you chose it:

--- China accomlished quite a lot during this time period-- many of which were not to be found out worldwide until hundreds of years later. The ingenuity of it all just seemed kind of cool to learn about....

3. What you already know about your topic:

--- (Like I said, not much, since my computer went berserk). Two things that I had a chance to learn, though, were that the Chinese were the first to invent paper (I already knew beforehand, but it's still valuable information), and that they were also the first to create and find artistic and practical uses for porcelain.

1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas?

--- It actually helped me a lot. I had tons of skinny questions at the start, and looking that them made me realize that most of them could already be combined into a fat question. I'll definately use this again.

1. What have I learned today?
--- I've learned that research is hard work....

2. What problems have I had?

--- Well, Noodlebib wasn't working on my computer. The Internet shut down every time I tried to make a citation. Other than that, I've had no problems at all, except for the fact that my time period is pretty broad, and I'm not sure which specific years to focus on.

3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?

--- I just need to research some more.

4. What will I do next?

--- Research my skinny questions.

The computers have not been your friends for this project! Let me know if things are not going smoothly on Thursday. You only have two more days to research at school, so I can help you if you need me to.
